Originating from Anxi in Fujian province, this tea is known throughout China and takes its name from Guan Yin, the goddess of mercy. A scholar is said to have found a tea plant at the foot of the Guan Yin rock in Xiping and served the tea to the emperor who, of course, loved it. Its highly floral attack is accompanied by a soft, milky, vanilla bouquet offering great roundness and intensity. Fruity, zesty nuances and a lingering vegetal finish bring freshness. This tea is just as suited to emperors and goddesses as to mere mortals.
