We epicureans know that the festive season is a sign of excess… it’s inevitable! How to resist all the good things to eat and drink. The aftermath is often difficult.
While the liver is already saturated, here comes the galette des rois… A solution? Tea, of course, and not as a cocktail with alcohol!
There is much talk of detox. It’s a fashionable word, notably in the world of tea and infusions. A certain number of plants have a more pronounced benefit, such as meadowsweet, birch and hibiscus; tea is also one of them. These plants detoxify the liver and the kidneys and thus help you feel better quickly. Other plants such as mint or ginger have virtues that are more targeted at digestion.
A little explanation about the effect of tea:
Green tea contains catechins (polyphenols) that improve our metabolism. The functioning of the liver is therefore stimulated.
Tea contains theobromine, which has a diuretic action. It activates circulation in the kidneys and thus promotes the elimination of toxins.
These properties, which are not exhaustive, make tea a perfect ally to help recover from end-of-year excesses.
And why not try a tea and infusion cure to recover joyfully from the festive season?
Try a two-week cure with, depending on your sensibility, the consumption of the following teas and infusions:
87 – Sencha Fukujyu
i02 – Mynthe
141 – Vergers des Ming
110 – Touareg
88 – Nile Valley
103 – Sencha Lemon
91 – Chai du Kerala
171 – Masala Chai
i05 – Infusion Cinq Mondes
141 – Vergers des Ming: To be drunk without moderation, at room temperature, throughout the day
How: Infuse 3 to 4 Vergers des Ming muslins (or one cold-brew muslin) in a litre of filtered water at room temperature for about 2 to 3 hours.
Drink this infusion throughout the day.
Why Vergers des Ming? For its hibiscus content
In the morning when you arrive at the office, a delicate green tea from Japan, the n°87 Sencha Fukujyu
Another, more scented alternative, the n°103 Sencha Lemon or the n°88 Nile Valley, two scented green teas with very lemony and vegetal notes for the first and more floral and fruity for the second.
Prepare yourself a large cup of hot water (75 to 80°C) and infuse a muslin for 2 to 3 minutes.
Be careful not to leave your muslin too long. The tea will then become too astringent and harder to enjoy.
After the meal, opt for our green tea n°110 Touareg for its digestive virtues (thanks to the mint) and stimulating ones (thanks to the theine naturally contained in the tea leaf)
Are you more of a black-tea person? Then opt for the n°91 Chai du Kerala or the n°171 Masala Chai, two spiced black teas. The spices will activate digestion and the theine of the tea will stimulate your concentration
Continue at the end of the day and in the evening with the i02 Mynthe infusion, a subtle blend of two mints (peppermint and spearmint). The Mynthe will win you over and gently carry you towards restorative nights.
Ideally, drink the teas without sugar. You can use agave syrup or coconut sugar if you need to sweeten. The glycaemic index is lower than white sugar, so much better for your health.
Of course, avoid all excess… and if you can, exercise — that’s even better!
If you’re going to exercise, prepare yourself 1 litre of the i05 Cinq Mondes infusion. This will rehydrate you as well as detoxify you thanks to the plants in the blend.
